(1) Discuss some of the key ideas of the Renaissance.
One of the key ideas from the Renaissance was humanism. The central intellectual movement of the Renaissance, which shifted focus toward the human experience, individual potential, and classical learning. Humanists emphasized the study of liberal arts. Another key idea is Classicism, a renewed interest in the literature, art, philosophy, and architecture of Ancient Greece and Rome. Thinkers sought to recover and restore Classical texts to reform society. Secularism was another key idea of the Renaissance. While society remained deeply religious, there was a noticeable shift toward valuing worldly life and earthly achievements.

(2) In what ways does Petrarch embody the spirit of the Renaissance?
Petrarch was instrumental in initiating the Renaissance  by advocating for the recovery and revival of forgotten Greek and Roman texts and hunting down lost manuscripts in monastic libraries. Another way that Petrarch embodied the Renaissance was bridging the Classical and the Christian. He sought to reconcile Classical pagan philosophy with christian theology, arguing that human potential and intellect were gifts from God meant to be developed.
